The Students Islamic Organisation (SIO), Hyderabad chapter, and Friends of Palestine (FOP) took out a “one mile march” on Mar 25, at Indira Park in support of the Palestinian cause. Speakers urged the international community to break their silence on the sensitive issue of Palestine where people were being subjected to ruthless torture. Ajit Sahi, former editor, Tehelka, who visited Gaza last year, shared his experiences and urged all the nations to come forward and build pressure on Israel to stop illegal occupation over the territories of Palestine. Muthu Krishnan, social activist, condemned the Gaza blockade which deprived the Palestinians of basic human rights. People didn’t even have basic amenities such as water, electricity, free movement and security. To break this siege only “Global march to Jerusalem” was planned in which he was also participating, Mr. Krishnan said. The SIO appealed to the masses to express their solidarity to the global march to Jerusalem scheduled on Mar 30.
