Gordhan Zadafia, Minister of State for Home in the Narendra Modi government during the 2002 Gujarat riots, was questioned for the third time on August 27 by the Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT). A senior SIT official said Zadafia was first questioned last week, followed by another interrogation on August 26. The third time he was questioned throughout the day. The official however did not say if the former minister will by questioned again. Zadafia is being questioned to ascertain his role in the riots on a complaint filed by Zakia Jafri, widow of slain ex-MP Ehsan Jafri killed in the Gulberg Society on February 28, 2002. The SIT headed by former CBI director R K Raghwan has so far questioned several persons in this connection including former Chief Minister Suresh Mehta, former DGP R B Sreekumar, senior IPS official Rahul Sharma activist Teesta Setalvad and Zakia herself.
