Gauhati High Court on October 17 released six Muslim youths on bail. The all six were accused of supporting communal violence in Assam. A sub-divisional court had denied bail to them earlier, following which the Legal Cell of Jamiat-Ulama-i-Hind challenged the decision of the lower court into the High Court and it granted bail to the six.

The Legal Cell of Jamiat is taking it as a great success. Jamshed Tughlaque, head of the Jamiat Legal Cell, said it was a result of their collective work. Advocate Neyaz A Farooqi, Legal Advisor of JUH in Assam, said, explaining the areas concerned to the cell, that they were working on providing legal help for the oppressed and pushing the real culprits behind the bar.
