SKSSF and Hammad Juma Masjid hosted a training session for Muslim women on Mayyat Ghusl and Kafan Ritual in Tusnabad, South Andaman on Sunday. In an effort to promote education and empowerment within the Muslim community, the Samastha Kerala Sunni Students Federation (SKSSF), in collaboration with Hammad Juma Masjid announced an upcoming training session tailored for Muslim women.

The session aimed to instruct attendees on the proper procedures for performing Mayyat ghusl (ritual washing of the deceased) and kafan (shrouding the deceased) ahead of burial as per Islamic traditions. The training session provided Muslim women with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to carry out these important religious rites with dignity and reverence.

Wajida Wafiyya who heads ZUMRA, said, “Our only intention is to motivate young Muslim girls and women to play a significant role in society without compromising Islamic values.”

Rishana Waffiya introduced ZUMRA, saying, “It’s a group aimed at empowering young Muslimgirls and women in accordance with Islamic teachings. ZUMRA, named after those who enter Jannah first according to Hadith, is exclusively for females and seeks to promote true knowledge of Islam among them. Its objectives include fostering moral and academic excellence, cultivating leadership skills, and fostering a virtuous society. The mission of ZUMRA is to prepare females for societal reconstruction guided by divine principles.”

This initiative aligned with the broader mission of SKSSF and Hammad Juma Masjid to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Islamic practices among community members, while also promoting gender inclusivity and participation in religious affairs. Specifically catering to the needs of Muslim women, this training session exemplified a commitment to equity and empowerment within the community.
