The CBI filed a supplementary chargesheet in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case on October 22, saying that the conspiracy to eliminate the gangster may go much beyond the alleged role of the marble lobby in Rajasthan. This chargesheet was filed against former minister of state for home Amit Shah and owner of Arham Bungalow in Gandhinagar, Rajendra Jirawala. Arham is where Sohrabuddin and his wife Kauser Bi were lodged before their killing. The chargesheet confirms the fact that Shah and IPS officer Abhay Chudasama conspired to influence witnesses from prison. It also names Gujarat IPS officer G L Singhal as the one who booked a room in a hotel in Ahmedabad to confine Sohrabuddin’s accomplice and key witness in the case, Azam Khan to force him to retract his testimony. Khan had testified on the alleged link of Sohrabuddin encounter with the assassination of former minister of state for home Haren Pandya. The chargesheet blames Arham owner Jirawala for helping his watchman from Nepal, Tej Bahadur, escape to another country, because he was an eyewitness to Kauser Bi’s murder. Jirawala is also charged with murder, illegal detention, conspiracy and destruction of evidence. The chargesheet includes 17 new witnesses and 24 documents as evidence.
