Just ahead of the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election Samajwadi Party(SP) and Welfare Party of India (WPI) are preparing to fight together against the communal forces in the State.

The top leadership of both the parties had a prolonged discussion twice in the last couple of months and have come to an agreement to work together in the State, to defeat the communal forces.

“We will chalk out  future plan of action with mutual discussion and dialogue”, said WPI President Dr. SQR Ilyas.

On August 19, a meeting took place between the WPI President Dr. Ilyas and SP President and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow. During the discussion both the leaders have criticised the anti-people’s policies adopted by UP CM Yogi Adityanath and accused the Yogi administration of doing divisive politics instead of focusing on the welfare of the people.

In this discussion, Dr. Ilyas said, “Yogi Adityanath has subjugated the rights of U.P. people. He is playing divisive politics to enslave the common people. People of UP can be disillusioned only for some time, but will eventually reject BJP, we along with SP leaders have decided to steer the political discourse on the actual problems  like unemployment, hunger, education, health and security confronting the people.”

Mr Akhilesh Yadav, National President of SP, said, “Our country is secular and democratic in nature and BJP is hell-bent to change that very nature by picking emotive and non-issues that have no concern with the wellbeing of the people.”

He also said, “We will build a strong coalition with all secular and small parties in UP and uproot BJP in next election.”

Dr. Ilyas said, “People’s fundamental rights are being violated in the state by resorting to intimidation and slapping of false and fabricated cases. People are too afraid to speak against the government. This uncanny atmosphere of fear cannot last for long. People of U.P. will unite against the BJP in the upcoming state assembly elections. It is time to safeguard the history and heritage of U.P., and reinstate the constitutional rights of the people.”

SP supremo Akhilesh Yadav and WPI national President SQR Ilyas had a detailed discussion over the forthcoming UP assembly elections. They talked on how to consolidate the secular votes. Another round of discussion will take place shortly between the centre and state leadership of both the parties.
