Hyderabad, Nov 26: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has promised that if Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) retains power in the state, it will set up a special Information Technology Park in Hyderabad for minority youths.
The BRS president made the promise while addressing an election rally in Maheshwaram constituency in Rangareddy district on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
KCR, as the chief minister is popularly known, said that his government is thinking about setting up a special IT Park for Muslim youth. The IT Park will come up near Pahadi Shareef.
The chief minister said his government spent Rs.12,000 crore towards minority development during the past 10 years.
“We have implemented a number of schemes for welfare of Muslim brothers and sisters and their children. We are giving pensions to various categories of beneficiaries and they include Muslims. We have opened residential schools exclusively for minorities,” he said.
Claiming that his government treats Muslims and Hindus as two eyes, he said BRS believes in taking everyone along.
He said the BRS government ensured peace and communal harmony. “As long as KCR is alive, Telangana will remain a secular state,” he said.
The proposed IT Park for minorities will be a second such initiative for the old city of Hyderabad.
Last month, IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao had laid the foundation stone for an IT tower in Malakpet area.
The IT tower named iTEK Nucleus is scheduled to be completed in 36 months. To be constructed at Rs.700 crore, this will be the first IT building in the old city of Hyderabad.
Coming up in an area of about 11 acres, the 21-storey tower will have office space of 15 lakh square feet. The IT space will be 5.5 lakh square feet, the remaining will be for non-IT. KTR said that 20,000 to 25,000 youth will get jobs in this facility.
He promised to bring a leading company as anchor for this facility. He said he would talk to Microsoft, Deloitte, Amazon and other major companies to invite them to set up their operations here.
The IT Tower is being developed as part of the state government’s policy to disperse IT sector outside HiITEC City and Gachibowli clusters. This will be the first IT facility in a Muslim majority old city.
According to Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, about 8,000 to 10,000 young techies from the old city travel to HiITEC City every day.
