It refers to shocking RTI response from Delhi Police where a senior officer of rank of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police has claimed that there is no system of taking cognizance of news-reports at Delhi Police!
The officer in response to another query seeking action-taken report on complaint filed by Doordarshan team about its having been manhandled by some persons for shooting of an unauthorised cremation at Delhi’s most popular cremation ground Nigambodh Ghat that ‘No such incident occurred’. It was most irresponsible on the part of Delhi Police that it gave such a reply without even contacting complainant reporter of Doordarshan or the other concerned ones even though the news-item was prominently highlighted in leading newspapers. Even contents of a verdict by Central Information Commission enclosed with the RTI petition were ignored while responding to the RTI petition.
If such are the ways of Delhi Police dealing with complaints filed by reporter of national electronic media, it can be well imagined how Delhi Police may be acting on complaints filed by ordinary citizens.
