Sant Gramin Pre University College, one among popular colleges in Bangalore, Karnataka, has rusticated a student Zeeshan Ali saying no bearded student is allowed inside the college campus. Earlier, the college administration warned him to shave off his beard and when he did not follow the command the administration suspended him from the college. Iqbal Ahmad, father of the victim, said the college administration seemed worried over inclination of his son towards religion. He further added that they had no objection to migration certificate issuedto the student if he intended to seek admission in another college, adding that changing university is the only option to continue his study with beard.Earlier, the KristoJyoti School in Assam had denied permission to a nursery student to cover her head with scarf. Subsequently, her mother litigated the matter to the High Court.
