Chief Minister of Telangana ARevanth Reddy said students will guide the redevelopment of Osmania University as the government prepares to present multiple development models for their review. Students will share feedback through drop boxes and a dedicated website. Officials expect a final decision on projects and funding by the end of the month.
The public meeting that was earlier planned on December 7 in front of the Arts College building take place on December 10. The Chief Minister will visit the campus on the same day to meet students and review proposals.
During a recent review meeting, officials presented detailed plans for new hostel buildings, academic blocks, internal roads and an auditorium. The Chief Minister suggested changes to the designs and asked the team to explore more options. He advised them to study the use of urban forestry funds for projects in green zones. He also asked them to examine opportunities to create new water bodies and protect existing ones.
On student amenities, he said the planning should meet future needs. He instructed officials to design hostels and academic blocks with 10 percent additional capacity for every hundred students. He added that construction should not create inconvenience for students and staff.
Revanth Reddy said heritage buildings inside the university must stay protected. He said new buildings should be prioritised over old structures that do not have heritage value.
