Swami Oom, vice president of Akhil Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha has demanded the central government to introduce Islamic Shari’ah law to prevent sexual harassment in India. He urged both right and left parties to table an amendment bill in parliament to counter the raising graph of sexual abuse in the country. He further said that he would file a Special Leave Petition in Supreme Court soon in this regard.
Meanwhile, students of Aligarh Muslim University organised a candle march to raise their voice against the gang rape of a medical student in New Delhi and sent a memorandum to the President of India demanding fair inquiry in the case, strict actions against all involved and better protection for girls and women in the country.
