Subramanian Swamy is generally known for his maverick nature and lack of sensible thinking. But in his recent outrageous outbursts (Analysis: How to Wipe out Islamic Terror, DNA, July 16, 2011) he has crossed all limits of decency and presented the worst example of unlimited hate. It is very hard for democratic India to tolerate such hate-filled rantings.
He attributes all acts of terror to Islam and Indian Muslims, dubbing it Islamic terrorism, and declares it to be the number one problem of India. In the same breath he prophesies that by 2012 Taliban would overtake Pakistan and then would start the phase of Islam’s confrontation with Hinduism to complete “the unfinished task” of converting Hindus and subduing Hindustan which could not be done even after 800 years of “brutal Islamic rule” in India. Surely these sick thoughts are based on a nightmare which Mr. Swamy has had. If so, he requires urgent medical advice.
He asks Hindus to organise and collectively retaliate in a fitting manner to wipe out the so-called “Islamic terrorism”. Then this self-appointed protector of Hindus, unaware of the damage he is causing to social cohesion, preposterously lists the dangers ‘Islamic terrorism’ poses and suggests a list of remedies which include demolition of Gyanvapi Masjid at Kashi Vishwanath in Benares (as if demolition of one at Ayodhya was not enough as a source of continuous trouble) and 300 other masjids, which, as he claims, are built on temple sites. He further wants India to be declared a Hindu Rashtra, imposition of Uniform Civil Code, mandatory learning of Sanskrit and singing of vandemataram and disenfranchisement of Muslims if they refuse to acknowledge ‘their Hindu ancestry’. He also wants a ban on conversion from Hinduism to other religions while welcomes from other religions to Hinduism. He also wants annexation of a part of Bangladesh to settle the illegal migrants from that country. He wants India to follow the golden example of terrorist state of Israel to convert the Hindu lambs into fiery lions. Finally, his suggestions boil down to formation of a party to implement this programme.
Even the worst communalist would not have dared to write such communally charged filth in the fast sobering and changing India. Every sane person condemns this poisonous hate mongering in strongest words. We are sure that Mr. Swamy was not in his senses when he poured out this vitriol. Let us hope that better sense prevails and he withdraws the article and offers a genuine apology to all Indians including Muslims who feel unlimited hurt.
