The book Tajalliyat-e-Qur’ān authored by Maulana Syed Jalauddin Umari,  a renowned Islamic scholar and Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, is a unique source of information for those who are interested in the study of Qur’ānic teachings. It deals with different dimensions of the Holy Qur’ān and provides guidance for better understanding of it. These views were expressed by the speakers at the releasing ceremony of Maulana Umari’s book at JIH headquarters in the national capital on 17 March.

Presenting a bird’s eye view of the book, Dr. Raziual Islam Nadvi said the book consists of 25 articles earlier published in different magazines and now, with some changes, those articles have been presented in the form of a book so as to make it easily available for interested people. He said the book deals with the topics like ‘Sahaba’s way to understand the Qur’ān’, ‘Qur’ānic stand on different issues’, ‘comments on contemporary Tafseer ’ and ‘different terminologies of the Qur’ān’.

The Maulana writes, in his book, that the Qur’ān should be studied with a open mind to derive some guidance for the daily life and not to collect only some pieces of information. He exhorted all especially the youngsters to study the Qur’ān with its meaning. Clearing the stand of the Qur’ān on ‘Interfaith Dialogue’ Maulana writes, “…the motive behind this dialogue is the concept that all the religions have single source and differences between them are not real. It is a baseless and unjustified concept.’’ According to the author, there should be some conditions for the dialogue.

In one of the chapters, Maulana writes that ‘disobeying Allah’ and ‘being arrogant on Allah’s earth’ have always invited His punishment as the biographies of the communities punished in past suggest. He has also given the details of the punished communities along with reasons for their punishments.

The book has been published by Markazi Maktaba Islami Publishers, New Delhi. The publisher has around 2,250 titles Urdu, Hindi and English to its credit, among them 47 are on Qur’ān. Among the dignitaries who attended the ceremony were Padamshree Prof. Akhtarul Wasey, Director Zakir Hussain Institute of Islamic Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia; Prof. Abdul Haque, Professor Emeritus, Delhi University; Maulana Mohammad Farooq Khan, renowned Islamic scholar and translator of Qur’ān; Nusrat Ali, Secretary General JIH, to name a few.
