Immediate and strong actions should be taken by authorities against misuse of the pictures of women journalists, activists and students by a website. It cannot be treated as a cybercrime; it is a deliberate act to discourage and scare women and girls of a certain community to pursue their dreams. The need of the hour is to create a safe and welcoming atmosphere for women to be able to step out of their homes, pursue their dreams and become contributing members of society, said Rahamathunnissa A while giving the presidential address at an online gathering of young women and girls organised by GIO Central Coordination Committee.

The keynote presentation was made by Shayma S, Phd scholar in JNU, and the Sub-editor of AURA E-MAGAZINE on “Higher Education: Challenges, Opportunities and the Roadmap for Girls”. She said aspiring students must focus on the objective and retain the motivation for themselves even as they progress. Muslim women students have unique challenges in campuses. If more and more girls enter the campuses, they will be in a better position to face the challenges. Lack of proper awareness on admission procedure and procurement of necessary documents, absence, planning and research, poor financial background are the main reasons why Muslim girls do not get entry in government-run general campuses compared to private sector.

The GIO monthly series in English offers its listeners and discussants a chance to listen to experts from different fields and interact with them on topics that are useful for young women and girls.
