Tamil Nadu CM’s populist schemes

Tamil Nadu chief ministerM.K. Stalin announced a new programme, in search of you, at your village, recently which aimed attaking the government machinery to the field to reach out to the people and ensure immediate redress of their grievances related to theimplementation of welfare schemes in the state, from December 2023.

With a view to creating a newTamil Nadu, the new programme would be built on the existing ‘Chief Minister on the field’ scheme (KazhathilMuthalvarThittam) under which the CM himself inspects the progress of the various welfare schemes launched by the government and activates the government machinery to expedite their implementation, Mr. Stalin said.

The programme will make theadvice of Anna Durai ‘go to the people, live with them, learn from them, and servethem,’ a reality. By identifyingthe district collector as the bridge between people and the government. So every collector should hold campat the taluk level once a month by staying with the people and ensure that the fruits of every government welfare scheme reached thebeneficiaries without any hitch, he said.

Gaza war shows Israel’s genocidal face

Palestinians, in my opinion, are the world’s most dehumanised people. I’m not aware of any nation-state that goes unpunished for bombing four hospitals on the same day. If this crisis has accomplished anything, it has shown Israel’s true apartheid/genocidal face, as well as the west’s hypocrisy in selectively implementing international laws.

Pak Prez Sparks Controversy

The Pakistan president’s proposal of a ‘one-state solution’ of the Palestine problem is a significant departure from the country’s established policy, prompting the caretaker government to distance itself from the remark.

The presidency later retracted the press release and issued a new one, which omitted any mention of the controversial proposal. The caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani termed president Arif Alvi’s proposal of a ‘one-state solution’ to the Palestine problem as not being in line with the country’s

principled and historic stance on the issue. And senator Raza Rabbani said, “A contradiction was issued after the press release, but he demanded resignation of the president over his statement.

The Maldives shows the way

Responding to the popular public demand, Maldivian Parliament’s Petition Committee has approved the petition calling for the ban on Israeli arrivals and entry of Israeli passport holders into the Maldives. An organization named ‘Rights Movement’ submitted the petition signed by thousands of individuals urging the government to ban Israeli arrivals.

Besides the approved petition, a resolution calling for a travel ban on Israel was submitted by an MP earlier, due to which members in the Petition Committee had requested to push both matters parallelly.

After due deliberations, the petition calling for a travel ban on Israelis was approved at the committee unanimously.
