Sheikh Mohamed Sayed Tantawi, the head of Al-Azhar, died of a heart attack during a visit to Saudi Arabia, religious officials at Al-Azhar said. He was 81. Tantawi was in the news recently for his liberal views on issues such as his stand against the full veil, or niqab.
