RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav made a bold statement at the ‘Waqf Bachao, SamvidhanBachao’ rally held at Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan on June 29, asserting that the Waqf (Amendment) Act 2025 will be “thrown into the dustbin” if the Mahagathbandhan comes to power in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, reported the Siasat.
The rally witnessed widespread participation from leaders of various political parties, many of whom wore black bands in protest. Tejashwi, Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, emphasised that the RJD, led by Lalu Prasad Yadav, has consistently opposed the Waqf Amendment Act both inside and outside Parliament.
“Our MPs have opposed the law in both Houses, and we have taken the matter to court. Let my Muslim brothers and sisters remember – by November, the NDA will be out, and a pro-poor, inclusive government will take charge and scrap this anti-minority law,” said Tejashwi, who is spearheading the INDIA bloc campaign for the polls.
He further warned the public to stay alert against alleged attempts by the Election Commission to manipulate the voters’ list in favour of the BJP, describing it as a conspiracy to deny people their voting rights.
Tejashwi also reminded the audience of India’s pluralistic heritage, saying, “Independence was earned through the sacrifices of Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians. No one has the right to treat this country as their personal property.”
