The leaders of Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) visited the Osmania University, Hyderabad campus earlier last week. Addressing the students and media persons, the Secretary General of SIO, P.M. Salih said, “Telangana needs a solution and not options.”
He pointed out, “Sri Krishna Commission report has two major defects, one that majority of Muslims are anti-Telangana and second, the report only presents options and not solutions.” “SIO being the largest Islamic students organisation supports the Telangana movement and demands a solution and not options,” he reiterated. Salih said, “Telangana is not just an issue of social justice and human rights but also of peace.” He further added, “The backbone of every revolution or struggle has been the students, be it then the Chinese Revolution, the French or the Indian freedom struggle. Similarly the backbone of the Telangana movement is and will be the students.”
The Secretary General was accompanied by Shaikh Shoaib, National Secretary; Sharique Ansar, National Secretary; Shahnawaz Ali Rehan, Former National Secretary; Ansari Abubacker, Member – CAC; Zainul Pasha, Zonal Secretary – Andhra Pradesh; Syed Shafiullah Quadri, City President – Hyderabad and Mohammed Salaam. The leaders met the members of Telangana Joint Action Committee, Telangana Students Power, Professors of Osmania University and other student leaders of the University.
