The big religio-political scam in our country has shocked the entire nation. It involves embezzlement of donations worth hundreds to thousands crore rupees donated by the Ram bhakts in Ayodhya. Up to now only the head of the iceberg has appeared.
Keen observers are revealing that if analysed properly this scam has three segments. First, regarding donations in 40 donation boxes installed in the Ayodhya complex. It is esteemed to be to the tune of Rs. 200 crore. Two other segments are land purchase which is estimated to be in crores. The third one is related to the construction of the temple building and the complex.
It should be remembered that the beginning was made in December 1949 when surreptitiously an idol of Ram Lalla was placed in the 400 years old Babri Masjid. K.K. Nayar, then District Magistrate and Collector of Faizabad, issued orders to lock the masjid. The then Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru wrote to the then Chief Minister to take legal action. This also should be refreshed in memory that Mr. K.K. Nayar, after his retirement, contested on Jan Sangh ticket and became a Lok Sabha member.
RSS, which now claims to be the largest social organisation of the world, hit upon the idea of exploiting the situation. Its political manifestation took shape as the BJP made it a big controversy and started a big movement called Ram Janmabhoomi reconstruction movement under its leader L.K. Advani. At that time Mr. Narendra Modi acted as his rath yatra driver. After long struggle, mounting controversies and bloodshed Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the abhishek of Grand Ram Temple in 2024.
The movement was the biggest strategy adopted by the BJP to capture power in our largest populated country of the world. Now, when the donation scandal has come to hit the nation, RSS chief Mr. Mohan Bhagwat and PM Modi are keeping mum. The Ram Bhakts or devotees are in the greatest shock of their lives. It is the basic truth that religion plays a very big role in human life. If it is utilised for moral development and restructuring of society on universal moral principles, it plays a very positive and constructive role in elevating humanity and restructuring civilization. And, if it is misused with narrow and parochial motives for negative ends, it becomes the biggest source of chaos and destruction of the society. Unfortunately, the selfish policies, especially of the ruling dispensation, are pushing our country to the corner that leads to complete destruction. Let us hope that saner elements will intervene and do their best to save the country.
It is time to take stock and draw a comprehensive and morally sound plan for eschewing narrow and selfish motives and restructuring India on moral and divinely sanctioned foundations, because our salvation depends on God-ordained path alone.
