A delegation from Malegaon joined the funeral of slain ATS Chief Hemant Karkare on November 29. The delegation led by Maulana A. Hameed Azhari and comprising Aleem Faizee, Nazeer Azhari, Khursheed Ansari, A. Hamid Jamali, Mukhtar Milli and others met Hemant Karkare’s brother and his son and offered their condolences on behalf of people of Malegaon.

Later speaking to the media outside Hemant Karkare’s Dadar residence in Mumbai, A. Hameed Azhari expressed shock and anger over the terrorist attack in Mumbai. He paid homage to the police and NSG personnel killed in the attack. “Along with Hemnat Karkare everyone including Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ashok Kamthe and Inspector Vijay Saleskar and the NSG Commandos who had sacrificed their lives deserve highest regards and respects,”  the Maulana said.

Terming the attack a war against the country, he assured the nation that people of Malegaon stood along with the government to fight the enemies of this great nation. “Whether the attackers are from across the borders or from within the country, the time has come to finish them off at the earliest,” he emphasised.

The delegation also met State Minority Commission Chairman Naseem Siddiquee and other leaders present at Hemant Karkare’s residence and offered the condolence message from Malegaon.
