The proof of the Prophethood of Muhammad, may Allah grant and bless him peace, is he himself. A number of persons were convinced that he was a prophet just the moment they saw him. Abdur Raman al-Taimi, may Allah be pleased with him, reported the incidence of his first meeting with the Prophet ﷺ. He said that when he saw him, he exclaimed immediately, “This is indeed the Prophet of Allah.”

Similar was the remark of Abdullah, son of Salam, may Allah be pleased with him. He was a religious scholar of the Jews in Madinah. When the news of the arrival of the Prophet in Madinah spread, he went to meet him and reported, “When I saw his face, I recognised that his face was not that of a liar.”

Anyone seeing the Prophet ﷺfor the first time would have faith in him and be confident that the person is truthful. Once the Prophet ﷺ purchased a camel from a group of persons who did not know him. The deal was complete and the Prophet took the possession of the camel and went to the city so that the payment may be sent to them. After the Prophet departed with the purchased item, the sellers panicked that they gave the camel to an unknown person. Their question to each other was whether they get the payment or not. One woman among them assured them, guaranteeing that they will get the payment. She said, “I saw the face of a man like the full moon. He will not cheat.” The full payment in the shape of dates, as agreed upon between them, came from the Prophet ﷺ.

The famous poet Abdullah, son of Rawaha, may Allah be pleased with him, has described this fact aptly in a couplet, translated as under:“Even in the absence of any clear sign about him/             Hisface would have revealed the message.”
