The Panaji police have arrested one person from the “10-rupee-note-gang” which has been involved in four thefts in the city. The police have also claimed to bust the linked gang.

Jadan Gawda, 37, from Kerala was arrested by the police on June 2. He was carrying Rs 10 notes in his pocket and had thrown around four of the notes at 18 June Road to lure a victim. However, police on patrol suspected Gawda and arrested when he tried to flee.

Police said that the victims were mostly women. In one case on May 31 the accused tried to get a lady out of her car by claiming that her money had fallen, and then decamped with a mangalsutra and other accessories worth Rs 60,000. In similar cases, he stole laptops and other accessories by opening car doors with a duplicate key.
