Then Think of the Day…

Indeed, We honoured the progeny of Adam, and bore them across land and sea and provided them with good things for their sustenance, and exalted them above many of Our creatures. Then think of the Day We shall summon every community with its leader.

“Indeed, We honoured the progeny of Adam, and bore them across land and sea and provided them with good things for their sustenance, and exalted them above many of Our creatures. Then think of the Day We shall summon every community with its leader. Those who are given their records in their right hands shall read the record of their doings and shall not be wronged a whit. Those who lived in this world as blind shall live as blind in the Life to Come; rather, he will be even farther astray than if he were blind.”

(Al Qur’ān – 17:70-72)

The power enjoyed by the human race on earth has not been granted by any jinn or angel, nor by any heavenly body, saint or Prophet. Beyond doubt, all the power, talent and potential that has been granted to man is from God and is by way of a special favour. There can be no greater act of ignorance and folly for man than to prostrate himself before any one other than God, God Who has granted him, to the exclusion of all other species, a uniquely exalted position in His scheme of things.

The Qur’ān repeatedly mentions that the righteous will be handed the scroll of their deeds in their right hand, and that they will rejoice looking at it and will even show the scroll to others. As for the evil-doers, they will be handed this scroll in their left hand, and instead of rejoicing they will try to hide it behind their backs.

The ayah 69:19-21 say: “On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: ‘Lo! Read my Record! Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account. Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss.”
