In the recent war imposed on the Palestinians, the world is witnessing yet another holocaust. One after another, the USA, the UK, France and some other western nations are solidly supporting the atrocities of Israel. The October 7 attack by the frustrated elements of Hamas is only a convenient excuse to the western powers to strengthen their hold on the Middle East countries and their resources. It does not mean that we support the Hamas attack on civilians. But this fact should not be overlooked that right from its formation, Israel has been acting as the proxy of western powers who want to possess or at least control the oil resources. It was for this purpose that Iraq was invaded under the false charge of possessing weapons of mass destruction. The dictatorship of Saddam Hussein was not the real cause, as we continuously see that the US pays only lip service to democracy and rule of law, while on the contrary willingly supports dictators who are in its good book and follow its orders.

Israel is the most powerful proxy of the US and its allies in the Middle East. That is why the leaders of the US and other western countries have made a beeline to Tel Aviv and are repeatedly saying that they are solidly behind the genocidal attacks of their staunchest ally, Israel.

It appears that the Zionist state is determined that it will destroy Gaza Strip and annihilate its entire civilian population. This is evident from the vetoing of two ceasefire resolutions in the UN Security Council. The western “champions of liberty and democracy” have given free hand to the Zionist state to exterminate the 23 lakh innocent citizens of Gaza. Human rights and international laws are not important for them. Continuing their hegemony and enslaving the Middle East is their objective.

Israel has been licensed to exterminate Gaza population by cutting their access to food, fuel and even drinking water. It is the worst form of genocide which has been imposed upon the original inhabitants of Palestine. This is happening all over Occupied Palestine.

These atrocities prompted the UN Chief Antonio Guterres to frankly state that he is deeply concerned with the violation of international humanitarian laws in Gaza conflict. While condemning the Hamas attack, the UN Chief said that it is also important that the Hamas attack did not happen in a vacuum. Explaining this, he said that the Palestinian people have been subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation. They have seen their lands steadily devoured by settlements and plagued by violence; their economy stifled; their people displaced and their homes demolished. Their hopes for a political solution to their plight have been vanishing. He added that these grievances of Palestinians do not justify the attacks by Hamas. Finally, he said that the appalling attacks do not justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people. The plain speaking was intolerable for the Israeli envoy Gilad Erdan who retorted that Guterres should immediately resign.

The world is watching in horror that Israel has become the terrorist state which has been steadily exterminating Palestinian people under the excuse of punishing Hamas. The reality is that what Hamas did is just a reaction of the continuous terrorizing of the Palestinian people right from 1948 as has been evident from the happenings of Deir Yasin, Sabra and Shatila and daily killings of innocent citizens in Gaza and the West Bank.
