A Grand Public Programme as part of the nationwide Muslim Person Law Awareness Campaign was organised at Quddus Saheb Eidgah, Millers Road, Bengaluru, on 5 May. A galaxy of scholars from various organisations addressed the gathering.

Maulana Mufti Mohammed Ashraf Ali, Rector, Sabeel-ur-Rashad, Member, All India Muslim Personal Law Board, said a child is born on the nature of Islam but in spite of this, some people are not able to stick onto their nature. He said, we need to get Muslims closer to their religion and need to understand the Qur’ān the way it has to be understood. Talaq is a disliked act in the sight of Allah. Some people are raising objections to the issue of Triple Talaq, which is not at all a big issue. People should know that the laws of Islam cannot be changed and they will remain the same till the last day. Efforts are being made to implement Uniform Civil Code but we should realise that it is not practical in India. He also appealed to the public to be steadfast on following Islam.

Maulana Sirajul Hasan, former Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, while addressing the gathering, said that we should follow and promote the Muslim Personal Law in such a way that it should become a law for the entire mankind.

Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, while addressing the gathering, said the laws of Islam are impossible to change and no one has the authority to do so. The nations in the past, who have gone against the commands of Allah, have been destroyed and they have failed in the world and the hereafter. The issue of Triple Talaq is a non-issue which is projected as a big issue. Various issues have been raised by the Government and media but they are very petty and silly. When compared with all the religions, Islam is the only religion which has given maximum protection to women in every aspect. A law should be based on the principles of justice, and if it is not based on justice, the law would be of no use. It is the need of the hour that we educate the youth about various aspects of Islam through a formal procedure. We should keep hope and move forward and never be depressed with the current situation.

The programme concluded with adoption of four resolutions, which were endorsed by the audience. People participated in thousands with full zeal and enthusiasm. The programme was organised by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Bengaluru Metro.
