Batla House is associated with an encounter that took place here three years ago. But now it’s in the limelight for an altogether different reason. A  Batla House resident has been selected in the Haryana Judicial Service Exam. Iram Hasan is a daughter of a truck driver and has secured the 19th position and is the youngest to do so.

She said her relatives would urge her father not to spend on her education but when she secured the first position in High School and Intermediate exams, her father saw a bright future in her daughter and started supporting her. When asked why so few Muslim girls clear competitive exams, she said most Muslim girls are reluctant to appear for the exams because they have a preconceived notion that the exams are tough. ”If you will work hard you can achieve whatever you dream to achieve,” she said. Citing her example, she said: “I came from Hindi medium background and got admission in LLB at Jamia which is English medium. I worked hard and not only did well in class but also got success in the Judicial Service Exam.
