November’s exports reached $13.8 billion, the highest monthly figure ever in the country’s history, Turkish Minister of Economy Zafer Caglayan said at the 4th Young Businessmen’s Congress organised by the Independent Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (MUSIAD) in Istanbul on 6 December. Referring to the 2008 global financial crisis, Caglayan said, “Turkey is taking an important place in the global economy day by day. It is a period which requires taking brave decisions. As of 2008, the description and the history of capitalism have changed.”
“The developed countries could not perceive the difference between rizk and risk in the 2008 financial crisis, resulting in the threat of large financial institutions’ total collapse and the bailout of banks by national governments.” Explaining that developing countries coped with the financial crisis by recognising the difference between rizk and risk, President of MUSIAD Nail Olpak said, “the world has witnessed a change not only in the economic balance, but also a change in political balance.”
