Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister Emrullah Isler blamed a judicial authority for a coup attempt. Regarding the recent statement of the Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) on the amendment to judicial police regulation, Isler said on TRT that the Board clearly violated the constitution by acting in such an unauthorised and illegitimate manner. “It is unacceptable for them to make such a statement. I see it as a coup attempt,” Isler said.

HSYK issued a statement in late December calling the amendments to judicial police regulation unconstitutional, and said that the separation of powers, and the independence of the jurisdiction in particular were violated.
