U-turn in India’s Foreign Policy

The resolution endorsed at the convention held at Delhi for ‘Solidarity with Palestine’ demanding the snapping of India’s military ties with Israel and to cancel the Rs.10,000-crore missile deal comes as whiff of fresh air. There is a U-turn in India’s foreign policy in the post globalisation era, so much so, that the crisis in Middle East is being viewed through the goggles of the U.S and Israel.  Palestinians who have been fighting for their homeland for six decades are branded as terrorists while the brutal force used by Israel is being regarded as legitimate requirement to curb the uprising.  Our leaders seem to have forgotten that barely 60 years ago, our ancestors too had relentlessly fought for freedom from the clutches of foreign occupation.  Kudos to the Left parties for rightly hitting the nail on head on the nefarious attempts by the global media to sidetrack the Palestinian issue from being a political question.
