Ulema Council (Uttar Pradesh) has decided to field its candidates in the next Lok Sabha elections in the State. It will be involved in the election process both directly and indirectly. In the wake of coming General Elections in the country Muslim organisations have started chalking out the strategy for the next General Elections. This move is taken, apparently, due to indifferent attitude of the mainstream political parties towards Muslim issues. Muslim bodies seamed particularly irritated with Congress that has ruled independent India for the longest period of time arguably with Muslim support and vote but has always neglected their concerns.

Mr. Tasleem Rahmani of the Muslim Political Conference (MPC) complaints, “Congress has always broken the trust of the Muslims. Today hundreds of innocent Muslim youths are languishing behind the bars. Even the future of those who are freed is bleak. No company is eager to give them employment. But the government seems least bothered. This is extremely deplorable.” He admits, “Muslims should have a political representation so that they can drive home their point forcibly.”
