The Founder and former Rector of University of Management and Technology (UMT) and Chairman, ILM Trust, Professor Hasan Sohaib Murad breathed his last in a tragic car accident on September 10. Murad met an accident on his way back from the Khunjerab border, near Gilgit, where he had gone to attend a seminar. Shabir Ahmed, the deceased’s son, has also sustained serious injuries in the accident.

Murad was a renowned scholar of management, philosophy and inventive business studies. He had 25 years of practical and diverse experience as he strived to build world class business support units in the areas of finance, sensitive and defence technology, mobile technology, leadership, supply chain, entrepreneurship and innovation.

Professor Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad, a man of letters, was one of the most distinguished educationists of Pakistan. He was a pioneering intellectual who also held several business and management innovations to his credit. As an erudite teacher, his scholarship and affection has left indelible marks on thousands of his students worldwide. He was an icon of humility. His piety led him to excel in philanthropic initiatives. His funeral prayers were held in UMT premises on September 12.
