The National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language is to hold a 10-day National Urdu Book Fair in Malegaon, Maharashtra from 3 to 12 January 2014. A variety of cultural and entertainment programmes have also been planned to be organised simultaneously during the event. “This is the first time the NCPUL book fair is being organised at a Taluka place. This is decided because Malegaon is one of the biggest centres of Urdu in the country,” NCPUL Research Officer, S.M. Khurram stated.
The book fair will be held at A.T.T. High School & Jr. College and J.A.T. High School & Jr. College grounds. Two NGOs Pasbaan-e-Adab of Mumbai and Malegaon Society of Education along with 35 other local NGOs are extending their support with the NCPUL to make the event a success. The event will kick off on 3 January 2014 by an Urdu Caravan. Other programmes on the occasion include local and national level Mushaera, competitions on different topics, literary and informative sessions on Urdu language, journalism, history, career guidance and planning and school curriculum, and mono acting and drama competitions.
