All the efforts of KJ Alphons to convince US lawmakers to allow Modi’s entry in the country failed as the United States has decided to continue denying visa to Modi on the ground of his alleged role in the communal riots in the state in 2002 which left more than 2000 dead. US Assistant Secretary of State, Robert Black, on 19 February, said, “Our policy has not been changed. Anyone can apply for a visa anytime, but we never prejudge the outcome of the decision…a lot of this will depend on some of the decisions made in Indian courts and many of those decisions are still outstanding.” Mr Alphons, who is a national executive of BJP, met the president of USA, Barack Obama on 7 February and tried unsuccessfully to persuade him.
