Washington Post’s article on India’s PM, presenting a similar analysis as TIME, has evoked widespread feeling among Indians that a sustained media conspiracy is being hatched by the US for vested interests to interfere in internal affairs of India, with a view to plan a ‘regime change’. Due to reasons beyond his control, PM is unable to deliver to the US demand to bring in FDI.
In this regard, the US consulate in Mumbai hosting an Iftar Party in Ahmedabad (to give an image makeover to Gujarat CM) can be seen as a distinct US involvement promoting Modi as next possible PM and BJP as the next ruling party. By any measure this is most reprehensible act to destabilise a democratic country. Even Israel chipped in with its own Iftar Party in Delhi, thus giving diplomatic support to its comrade in arm, the US. US role in promoting Arab Spring by helping to topple long time dictators can be appreciated to some extent. But America’s interference in a democratic nation’s election process will be and should be condemned by one and all.
The corruption imbroglio is an internal matter of a sovereign nation; but the way opposition, especially BJP, is stalling the parliament and threatening the very foundation of democracy in India, it appears to people, that it has a wink from the US to adopt such undemocratic tactics to pull down the government. Indian people have realised the tactics of the US and will not easily digest further US interventions in upcoming elections to choose the next government. It will serve the international peace better if the US remains neutral in India’s upcoming internal democratic elections scheduled for 2014. A heavy burden falls on America’s Jewish owned media, to refrain from any adverse propaganda that will tarnish its own image worldwide.
