The Uttarakhand government has replaced the state’s Madrasa Board with the Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority, bringing educational institutions of all six notified minority communities under a single regulatory framework.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched the new authority in Dehradun and said it came into effect on July 1 following the dissolution of the Madrasa Board. During the event, he distributed recognition certificates to minority educational institutions.

Dhami described the Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority as a milestone for the state’s education system and for the country. On UCC in Uttarakhand, he said the new authority marks the beginning of “One Nation, One Education”.

He said the  goal is to provide quality education and moral values to every child, regardless of class, region or community. He said the authority seeks to expand educational opportunities for minority communities without affecting their religious identity, traditions or rights.

Dhami stated that children from minority communities should remain connected to their religious and cultural heritage while gaining knowledge in science, mathematics, computer education, languages and modern technologies.

Minority Affairs Secretary Parag Madhukar Dhakate said institutions must first obtain affiliation from the state’s Education Department before applying online for minority recognition through the new authority.
