Full marks to respected Janab Ejaz Ahmed Aslam Sahab for his well-researched signed editorial titled “Vande Mataram Controversy” vide issue of Radiance No. 37 dated 27 December 2025.
Respected Editor-In-Chief Sahab states “Patriotism is a natural instinct….” He is absolutely right in his evaluation. Can we ask the present regime how many Indians are found spying for other countries for some petty gains? How many bureaucrats are found in scams? How many politicians are involved in financial embezzlement? Is patriotism the monopoly of a particular party or a particular section of society?
By singing this song, it cannot be proved that the singers of this song are loyal to this country and honest. All the Indians i.e. 140 crores are faithful citizens of this country irrespective of caste, creed, religion, region, language, colour. Any attempt to divide the country should be fought boldly and vehemently.
Let me quote a sentence from the cover story (Radiance Issue No. 37) by Dr. Syed Wahaj HasmiSahab (Hyderabad):“A strong nation is built not by chanting one song, but by hearing every voice.”

Reading the Qur’an with Understanding Its Meaning
This refers to the article captioned “Belief is Not Blind’’ by ZunairaSyeda(Radiance, 20 Dec. 2025) wherein she has nicely and reasonably highlighted the necessity of the reading of the Qur’an with understanding its meaning.
The Qur’an is a divine law revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺwith Allah’s mercy and healing for the humanity. Allah announces in the Qur’an: “This is the Blessed scripture (Qur’an) which I have revealed. So follow it that ye may find mercy.” (6:155) And “I have revealed the Qur’an which is a healing and a mercy of believers.” (17:82)
To receive Allah’s mercy and healing, we have to follow the Qur’an. To follow the Qur’an, we have to read it with understanding and conceptualizing its meanings dealing with His orders and prohibitions. Just reading the Qur’an without understanding its meanings is a futile exercise except a little benefit earned therefrom. Moreover, it is seen that many Muslims lack interest in and attention to prayers (Salat) because they cannot comprehend what they and Imam recite in the prayers.
The prophet told people to do “Qur’an Tilawat”. It means reading the Qur’an in Arabic or any language with understanding and conceptualizing its meanings enabling them to act upon it in individual and social life alike. Reading the Qur’an in its original Arabic text is essential especially during prayers (Salat), an important part of Ibadat. Muslims can’t recite the Qur’anic verses whileoffering prayers in other languages than Arabic; hence Arabic is regarded as Ibadat language in Islam. So, it underscores the importance of learning the Arabic language for understanding the Qur’an and acting upon it.

Good Move by Sudha Murty
It was nice to read about Rajya Sabha member and wife of Infosys founder NR Narayanamurty, Sudha Murty moving a resolution for providing free and compulsory education to children in the age group of three to six. Education is the key to enlightenment which everyone knows and unless children, who are the future of the country, get proper education and guidance in those early hours, how can we expect our nation to have a great future?
Enough attention should also be devoted to the issue of child labour where children are forced to work in factories and fields to earn a living. Child labour should not be allowed at any cost for what is at stake is the future of our young generation. Instead, gainful employment should be provided to adult members of every family so that kids can spend those early years in schools and not at workplaces.
