The Human Welfare Foundation (HWF) has rebuilt 10 houses destroyed in North East Delhi riots and handed over the keys to their owners. It also completed seven employment projects, through its flagship Vision 2026 programme.
The rehabilitation of the victims of the North East Delhi riots is still going on even after seven months, with social organisations working continuously in the affected areas. The HWF is carrying out rehabilitation work in the affected areas under Vision 2026 and has gradually succeeded in bringing smiles to dozens of faces who were affected by the riots.
Muhammad Naushad Akhtar was a full-time Imam (leading prayers in a mosque) by profession till February this year. However, after being rehabilitated by the Vision 2026 programme, he will be recognised as a businessman in the society. He is determined to start life afresh as a businessman. Akhtar said: “May Allah bless Vision 2026. When they found out about my condition, they not only rebuilt my house but also gave me an e-loader to run my business. Now In Sha Allah, I will try to earn my living with it.”
Vision 2026 has been active in the riot-affected areas since day one. It is working on a complete rehabilitation project. After completing the first phase of the programme, it has now entered the second phase and so far it has completed dozens of projects in areas like Garhi Mendu, Shiv Vihar, Karawal Nagar, Chaman Park, Ambika Vihar, Bhagirathi Vihar, and Khajuri Khas. So far, 10 houses have been rebuilt and the keys have been handed over to homeowners, including the repair of a factory and a school. Educational scholarships have been given to 7 riot affected children. Under the employment provision scheme, Vision 2026 has completed 7 projects in which 4 shops, auto rickshaws, e-rickshaws, e-loaders, motorcycles, sewing machines have been provided for the victims.
“We are trying to empower all the victims so that they can stand on their own two feet,” said Naufal P.K., CEO of HWF.
“We are also grateful to the locals who helped us in our work. We will try to help those who have been assisted and provided employment to stand on their own feet and help them to set up their own businesses,” he added.
