Over 1200 copies of translation of the Holy Qur’ān were sold during the 83rd Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan held at SP College Ground, Pune, from March 26 to 28. Islamic Marathi Publication Trust exhibited and sold a grand range of Marathi books and literature on science, history, art, culture, health, religion, etc. DVDs of recitation with Marathi translation of the Qur’ān were displayed at the stall. People from all walks of life including students, housewives, sadhus, doctors, administrative officials thronged to the stall in large numbers. An estimated ten thousand people visited the stall. The visitors were amazed to see more than 190 titles on Islam in Marathi. “We were not aware that so much literature on Islam is available in Marathi,” some of them wondered. “I bought the Holy Qur’ān because it is in Marathi. I have copies of the Ramayana and the Gita but never read the Qur’ān. Hope this will help me know Islām closely,” R. Gholap of Bibwewadi said expressing pleasure.
