Senior Congress leader Shankersinh Vaghela “advised” Muslims in the state of Gujarat to be united against the BJP and vote for the Congress or else again “face total ruin” under Narendra Modi. Addressing a well-attended meet organised by the minorities department of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee at Koba, Vaghela said Muslims should remember that the BJP has always made them a poll issue while the Congress always stood for them. The remark did not go down well with some community members who were heard expressing dismay over the use of such language by Vaghela, who heads the party’s election campaign committee for the next Assembly elections.
