Manipur, the border state in the northeast, has been in turmoil for the last three months. The efforts of newly formed political alliance INDIA to promote peace and ease the tensions must be welcomed as a ray of hope for that strife-torn state. A delegation of INDIA comprising 21 MPs made a 2-day visit to Imphal. A total of 16 parties of the alliance are represented in the delegation. The delegation visited some relief camps in which the victims have been temporarily accommodated. It submitted a memorandum to the Governor. As expected, the MPs had heart to heart contacts with the victims of the clashes from both groups.

The victims repeatedly asked, “Are we not Indians? Is Manipur not a part of India? Why have our wounds been allowed to fester? Why were our shrieks not heard?” These words speak volumes about the hurt sentiments of the people. The pressing need of the hour is peace, dialogue and reconciliation.

The INDIA leaders questioned the attitude of the Central Government which turned a deaf ear to the waves of Manipur. They criticised why PM Modi did not speak a single word of consolation to the suffering citizens of the state. Why he did not entertain any delegation to meet him? His silence was very painful. Being the PM of 140 crore people’s democracy of the most populous country, it was his basic duty to appeal for peace. His appeal could have created a miraculous atmosphere for peace.

India wonders and the whole world is surprised on this mysterious silence of the PM. Parliament is the highest body of our democracy. It is its fundamental duty to discuss threadbare the events in a state. Every Indian wants and every political party demands appearance of PM in Lok Sabha and his explanation why he has been silent for the last three months. His silence is being continuously questioned and several interpretations are being made. The PM’s silence on bloodshed in Manipur is just like his silence on Hindenburg Revelations and Adani Group’s role. On that occasion also in two speeches in both Houses of Parliament, Mr. Modi avoided any reference to Adani and his group.

The situation in Manipur is extremely volatile and dangerous for the integrity and security of India. The bloodshed and atrocities in Manipur are sadly reprehensible and a wakeup call to the whole country. Petty politics, creating mutual fear and suspicion is the root cause of these fearful events in Manipur. It is high time every conscientious Indian citizen, every well-wisher of the nation, and every person, small or big, to stand up and say no hate, no fear, no false and fake news. No maligning of your fellow citizens. No bigotry, no falsification of history. No distortion of facts. And above all India needs love, mutual respect, cooperation and true example of unity in diversity.

Let us pray to God to bless us with love, morality, humanity and humility. If we refuse to learn lessons, our future would be bleak. Even if we become a five trillion-dollar economy, we would become a failed and disintegrated people and our life would be a disaster. Are we ready to positively respond to this wakeup call?
