Whenever a terror attack shakes a particular soil, it shocks the world. The one on French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo also did so. It is so because human nature loves peace. It is only some vested interests who compromise with peace, cut the thread of their conscience and go on the path of terror. They adopt all gullible means, hatch diabolic designs to do heinous, inhuman acts and make statements for public consumption, leaving behind a lot shrouded in mysteries. Perpetrating a terror act in the guise of “others”, donning shalwar-kameez, counterfeit beard and Muslim-looking skull cap, is not unheard. And, killing two or more birds with one single stone is also not out of the pale of the followers of Machiavelli. They may call it strategy or politics or statesmanship. But to us it is crass inhumanity, for it is perpetrated at the cost of peace and truth, which needs to prevail in society and let it continue as a place to live in.
The Charlie Hebdo tragedy is indeed condemnable. All well-meaning Muslim organisations the world over joined the world to condemn this abominable act as Islam deems the killing of a person without any justification (and without any court or state order) as the killing of entire humanity and it never allows its followers to take the law in their hands. The world has also come together to express sympathy with France at this critical hour. It is high time the world realised the need to extend the same level of sympathy with Muslims as well when attacks on mosques are going on in different cities of the world.
At the unity rally as many as 40 world leaders made their presence felt. But the question is why French President asked Israeli Prime Minister not to attend the rally, and why the latter did make it to Paris. Also, why a French website (http://lamatricejuive.net) blamed Israeli intelligence agency for this terrorist attack on the French soil? The website alleged that this “France’s 9-11” was “to mobilize France to the Jewish cause”. The very reference to “9-11” shrouds it in mystery. Some analysts also have it to say that it was only because the French parliament recently voted for the Palestinian statehood and France was trying to shake herself off the US war on terror.
It is now up to the Hollande administration to set up a high level investigation into the attack and tell the world who were responsible for it and who intended to benefit therefrom. Till then we will have to wait and watch.
