The armed entry of the CPI(M) cadres into Nandigram is indeed comparable to the Congress party letting their goons free post-Indira Gandhi assassination and Modi letting his thugs out during the Gujarat riots. By endorsing his cadres who have actually looted the villagers and molested and raped the women, Buddhadeb has in fact shown that he is in favour of such all-out hooliganism to silence his opponents and approves horrendous crimes such as murder and rape against them. What a pity that he is an elected representative and a state CM in a democratic country like India! With such people like him and for e.g. Modi at the helm of power, the dreams of India turning a super-power are all but worthless. A democratic country, whose government cannot protect its own citizens and justifies atrocities against them for its obnoxious political ambitions, cannot and does not deserve to be called a super-power.
