This poem is not just a compilation of words but rather of emotions and questions that a small Palestinian asks her mother (Amma). We are talking about a child who doesn’t know what life and death actuallyis … and who even doesn’t know what this conflict is about.
What is going on, Amma?
Why is this happening, Amma?
Why people are grieving?
Why everyone is crying, Amma?
What is she searching for in the rubble?
Why her mother is weeping, Amma?
Why are they pointing guns?
Where are they taking him, Amma?
He is bleeding profusely…
He will die… Amma!
Is this alright?
Isn’t it wrong, Amma?
When will we go back home?
When will I go to school Amma?
Will we get food today?
I’m starving badly, Amma!
Will this happen every day?
For how long will it continue, Amma?
I have told everything to Allah
He will surely listen, Amma!
Why are you crying?
We will get through this, Amma!
What is going on, Amma?
Why is this happening, Amma?
