The statement of A.R. Antulay on the killing of Hemant Karkare has led the nation to chaos. Statements are being made and letters, articles and editorials written condemning the senior politician for “speaking the unspeakable”. This demonstrates how an emotional tinge has been given to the Mumbai terror attack. The billion dollar question is: “what is wrong in giving one more dimension to the investigations?” After all, what he said was based on certain facts and legitimate doubts that are well enshrined in hearts of a large number of Indian citizens – it is a different matter that mainstream media has given no space to those anguishes in their covering of events. A.R. Antulay did the very right job by representing this neglected lot and hopefully this dimension of terrorism that nakedly came in the sight of the nation after Karkare’s probe in Malegaon blasts and was shrewdly closed with his death will be brought into light once again. The nation must ensure that Karkare’s death will not go in vain. This is the least tribute we can pay to him.
