This is apropos the Cover Story “The Alternative that Never is” by Fawaz Shaheen (Radiance, 16–22 March). The article was timely and narrates the very nature and configuration of Third Front. Even before the formation and complete shape, the Third Front has disintegrated. The parties in the formation in initial phase have moved to their own line of politics and are going to the polls alone. Many leaders have agreed that the idea to form a Third Front before polls was a mistake which has now become clear. Any political formation will have a long lasting impact only when the leaders in the loop are selfless and ready to sacrifice in one way or another to keep the spirit of the formation intact.
