Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his cabinet colleagues and RSS leaders are deeply disturbed on the ‘moral degeneration’ and ‘irresponsible behaviour’ of our present generation. Mr. Modi has poured out his pain on this situation. No doubt that a civilized society will never tolerate irresponsible behaviour and use of abusive language. It must be tackled with necessary strictness and required caution. It is so because the youth are the masters and shapers of our future.
But who is basically responsible for the waywardness and questionable conduct of the Gen Z, as it was witnessed during the youth movement against corruption in examination system, and especially NEET exams, which affect the future of millions of young men and women.
Offensive and disgusting behaviour and use of abusive language is intolerable and must be wiped out with full force. But in this respect a close scrutiny of our highly placed leaders must be made. The higher the position a leader holds, greater is his responsibility. Take into consideration the political atmosphere promoted by the ruling party leaders and the highly abusive language they use frequently. Who called Sonia Gandhi ‘Jersey Cow’ and ‘widow of Congress’? Who termed M.P. Shashi Tharoor’s wife ’50 crore girlfriend’? This was done on the floor of Parliament, before which PM Modi prostrated as if it were as venerable as God.
When, in the previous Lok Sabha Ramesh Bidhuri called a Muslim M.P. ‘terrorist, mulla and katua’, was the perpetrator punished, suspended or any action taken against him? When open calls were given in a Dharm Sansad in Haridwar, Uttarakhand in December 2021 for narsanghar (mass massacre) of Muslims, was any action taken except filing of an FIR? Several rubble rousers of the known saffron brigade announced prize money of lakhs and lakhs of rupees for killing a person, was any action taken? Not even condemnation was visible? Day in and day out murderous lynchings were perpetrated, but no conviction nor condemnation.
In several false and concocted cases, innocent people had to undergo long third degree torture, lengthy trialsand periods of incarceration.In most of these cases such as after 19 years since Mumbai Suburban Train killing of 170 innocent people, the real perpetrators were not found out and about 20 or more innocent persons were exonerated and set free by the Bombay High Court. The whole story has been recorded by one of the victims, Abdul Waheed in the voluminous book, The Innocent Prisoners.
The most painful tragedy of the so-called mother of democracy and Vishwa Guru country is that it has been captured through fair or foul means by an anti-Muslim, anti-minorities, anti-democracy, anti-federalism, selfish, authoritarian, power hungry and anti-liberty-equality-and-fraternity dispensation.
The writing on the wall warns that the regime must correct itself, otherwise the downtrodden and frustrated generation will trounce the evildoers in near future. So, why take offence on the abuses hurled, and not reform the system?
