This refers to the El Baradei’s Democracy (Radiance Viewsweekly, 21-27 July). It is really difficult to understand how a soft-spoken and yes-man like El Baradei turned into a fierce politician just before the military coup in Egypt. It is also right that he had returned to the country uneventfully during the ‘freedom struggle.’ Everyone knew since the day one that the conspirators are hell bent to overthrow the first democratically elected government. Then why the Morsi government did not take precautionary steps to face the expected situation. Did Morsi not permit the Armed Forces to directly interfere into civil affairs by handing over the charge of civil safety to the Army Chief? The achievements of the Morsi government may be uncountable but there must be a discussion on how the president failed to avert the military coup.
