“We extended warm Women’s Day wishes and expressed our appreciation for their contributions,” said a statement from GIO Coimbatore. Marking International Women’s Day, Ms. Mariyam Farhana B.E, President of GIO Coimbatore, Ms. Ruqiya Thasneem B.A, LAC Member and Ms. Jesila, Member, addressed the female workers of Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC), highlighting the strength of women and recognizing their crucial role as workers of the sanitary department.

“As a token of respect, we followed an ancient tradition by presenting fabric honours, and pinning badges on them, evoking overwhelming joy and even tears of happiness.

“Sweets were distributed, adding sweetness to the celebration.

“The women were really touched by our gesture. In conversations, they shared the challenges they face in their work and urged the community to be more responsible in waste management,” said the statement.
