Brutal killing of a worker Saddam and his hush-hush cremation hit the headline of local newspapers in the early week of this month. Saddam was killed on 25 January by those whom he worked for. At first, the police tried to cover up the news as the murderers belonged to an ‘influential’ group and it came into light only after intervention of some civil rights organisations. According to the news, the deceased was a domestic help of Ved Gujar and Jagat Singh, both residents of Kam Nagar under Kasna police station of Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. They were not paying him his wages for several months and when the deceased demanded the same they killed him and cremated subsequently to remove evidence. Circle Officer of Greater Noida, Alok Priydarshani, and SHO of Kasna were very quick to cook up a story in defence of the murderers. After the intervention of the civil rights group, an FIR has been filed against the culprits.
