The Welfare Party of India strongly demanded a thorough probe into the brutal murder of Valsha John who was killed by unidentified miscreants at Pachwara village of Jharkand. P.C. Hamza, general secretary of WPI said in a press statement that the nun hailing from Kerala had been in the village for more than a decade and was associated with various social activities. The role of powerful mafia cannot be ruled out behind the killing as she had spearheaded movements against eviction of tribals by mining companies. Considering the possibility of attempts to twist and derail the investigation, the WPI general secretary asked to hand over the probe to CBI. The Party demanded that the criminal perpetrators should be booked and punished at the earliest.
The Party also demanded the National Commission for Minorities to urge the state government to take effective steps to ensure the protection of minorities and women.
